Elizabethtown, Kentucky-based nonprofit Give 270 made a $15,232.92 donation to the Deputy Caleb Conley Memorial Fund through Whitaker Bank via proceeds from the nonprofit’s most recent Whiskey Wednesdays raffle.

The fund was established to support the family of the late Scott County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Caleb Conley, who was killed in the line of duty on May 22. Deputy Conley, who left behind a wife and two children when he was shot and killed during a traffic stop, served for eight years in the U.S. Army before becoming a deputy.

“We are very pleased with the outcome of this raffle and our ability to help the family of a hero who made the ultimate sacrifice,” said Eric Clemens, Board Chair for Give 270.

Give 270 collaborated with Jordan Jacobs, who worked with Deputy Conley, on the raffle. In addition to the typical bourbon prizes given away during this round of Whiskey Wednesday’s, last week’s raffle also included a Weller Vertical donated by Jacobs.

“It is an honor to contribute to help Deputy Conley’s family through this raffle,” Jacobs said. “The support for this raffle is a testament to Deputy Conley’s legacy as an exceptional law enforcement officer and member of the community.”

Round 7 of the weekly Whiskey Wednesdays raffles kicked off in April, providing ticket purchasers with five chances to win valuable bourbon prizes each week. Raffles in Round 7 take place on Give 270’s Facebook page and YouTube channel each Wednesday at 8 p.m. until June 28. Each week, Give 270 gives away the grand prize of a bottle of Old Forester Birthday Bourbon, along with a Weller 12 Year, a Weller Antique 107, a Weller Special Reserve, and a bottle of Riff Corp, a single barrel selection of New Riff bourbon from Elizabethtown-based retailer John O’s Liquors. “A great deal of what we do is provide funding to support the Central Hardin FFA chapter, its members, and students’ education,” said Kyle Mobley, president of the Central Hardin High School FFA Alumni Association. “This generous contribution demonstrates to our students that the community is deeply invested in fostering the valuable lessons and experiences that a robust FFA chapter provides.”

The donations were made possible through proceeds from Whiskey Wednesdays raffles that took place throughout the first quarter of the year.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to support area organizations that invest in the future of local students,” said Eric Clemens, Board Chair for Give 270. “We were compelled by the mission of each of these organizations to support area students and are pleased with the outcome of this round of Whiskey Wednesdays.”

  • Helping Hand of Hope receives $2,500 match from Give 270

Helping Hand of Hope receives $2,500 match from Give 270

Hardin County-based nonprofit Helping Hand of Hope recently received a $2,500 match gift toward the nonprofit’s food pantry campaign in the month of March. Helping Hand of Hope raised funds to resupply its food pantry amid windstorms in Hardin County earlier this month that caused widespread power outages, leaving numerous perishable food supplies to spoil.

“Not only did these recent storms affect the food supply in our pantry, but also in the homes of many Hardin County residents who are already facing food insecurity,” said Helping Hand of Hope Executive Director Hope Burke.

The donation match from Give 270 aligns with the nonprofit’s efforts to support community, economic and workforce development of the Elizabethtown-Fort Knox MSA (Hardin, LaRue and Meade counties) by raising funds for other area nonprofit organizations and local initiatives.

“When these storms swept through the area earlier this month, it was clear that there was an immediate need in the community, and it was important for Give 270 to find a way to help,” said Eric Clemens, Board Chair for Give 270. “We urge all members of the community who have the ability to contribute to this significant campaign, to donate whatever they can.”

Along with several other services and programs that alleviate personal and financial hardship among Hardin County residents, combating local food insecurity is a key component of Helping Hand of Hope’s mission. Last year, 10,067 local families were provided with food boxes through Helping Hand of Hope.

Bourbon Strong Raffle raises $91K for Opal’s Dream Foundation

Elizabethtown-based nonprofit Give 270 presented a check Monday for $91,363.52 to regional nonprofit Opal’s Dream Foundation. The donation was raised through a Bourbon Strong 50-4-50 bourbon raffle hosted by Give 270 last week.

Founded in 2012, Opal’s Dream Foundation serves thousands of seniors in over 100 nursing homes in approximately 50 communities across Kentucky and Indiana. The foundation’s mission is to restore dignity, respect and joy to seniors in long-term care. The organization celebrates and enriches the lives of seniors through a variety of programs which provide mobility assistance, basic needs, quality of life improvements, recreation and socialization opportunities, engagement with the arts, companionship, and non-denominational spiritual support.

“We’re grateful for the team at Give 270 and their efforts in promoting this raffle and helping us further our mission,” said Paul Thompson, COO of Opal’s Dream Foundation. “These funds are indispensable for the work that we do and we look forward to employing them in the community immediately.”

Give 270 previously supported Opal’s Dream Foundation through a bourbon raffle last year and the sale of an exclusive bourbon bottle celebrating the military veteran community in partnership with North Hardin Wine & Spirits in Radcliff in 2021.

“We are proud to once again work with Opal’s Dream Foundation to support their important mission, and we are thrilled with the outcome of this raffle,” said Eric Clemens, Board Chair for Give 270.

Last week’s raffle featured 50 bourbon prizes at $50 per ticket. An additional Bourbon Strong 50-4-50 raffle is set for April 26 with proceeds benefiting Charities For Kentucky.
