KY Craft Beer Festival donates proceeds to Hardin County Schools
Funds will provide free books for kids through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – Today, local nonprofit Give 270 announced a donation for $7,000 to Hardin County Schools (HCS) in order to offer Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to area children. HCS will roll out the pilot program to children living in the Creekside Elementary School district in Sonora.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth until they begin school, no matter their family’s income. However, the program is not available in all areas. Give 270’s donation will allow HCS to provide this program to local children who live in the 42776 zip code.

“We are thrilled to be able to provide this incredible program for local children,” said Give 270 co-founder Kenny Rambo. “Our community always turns out to support each other, and Give 270 is excited to find another way to support our children and help build young minds.”

HCS Early Childhood Education Department researched how to best use the funds to impact the most children.

“Early literacy opens the door for learning, and starts a child on the road to academic success,” said Hardin County Superintendent of Schools Teresa Morgan. “We are so grateful for a local organization like Give 270 that supports education programs like Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

“We hope that this is the first of many opportunities for HCS to make this program available, and happy to partner with them on this important endeavor,” Morgan added.

The Give 270 donation is from the proceeds of the local non-profit’s 2019 Kentucky Craft Beer Festival, a local fundraiser that brings craft beer enthusiasts to downtown Elizabethtown. The funding opportunity was identified in partnership with United Way of Central Kentucky.

Crowdfunding effort hopes to provide 150 devices for 1:1 learning

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – Elizabethtown Education Foundation (EEF) has partnered with Give 270 for a crowdfunding effort to help purchase 150 Chromebooks for Elizabethtown Independent Schools (EIS). The goal of the partnership is to ensure all 2,400 EIS students have access to learning devices in the classroom and at home.

For years, EEF has helped purchase Chromebooks to support EIS’ goal to be a 1:1 district – with each student having an assigned Chromebook for day-to-day learning, assessments, and communication.

A 1:1 district is even more necessary now as schools face educating students in the midst of a pandemic. The Chromebooks, installed with all the important security guidelines, will help ensure students have everything they need to learn, in person or remotely.

“When EEF first began purchasing Chromebooks, they were an enhancement to everyday learning,” said EEF Board Chairman Andy Games. “Today, because of the current pandemic, this technology is even more important and, in some cases, the equivalent of pencil and paper.

“We are excited by the initial response to our request with donations from local businesses – Packages and More, Planet Fitness, Buff City Soap and SunTan City,” Games said. “We hope that parents, alumni, businesses and community members follow their example and donate to help us raise these important funds for Elizabethtown students.”

EEF and Give 270 have a goal to raise $35,000 through the end of August 2020 for the Chromebooks. Portion of bourbon sales will benefit area businesses as they return to work

Elizabethtown, KY – Mammoth Liquors has partnered with Give 270 to help provide masks for local employees as they return to work. 

The partnership joins #healthyatwork efforts that encourage employees who are returning to their workplaces to wear masks. Mammoth Liquors, who recently made an Elijah Craig Small Batch barrel selection, will sell bottles featuring a commemorative #healthyatwork label. A total of $20 from the sale of each bottle will be donated to Give 270 for the purchase of masks that will be provided to area businesses for their employees. 

“When we made our selection of this particular barrel, which was bottled back in March, we couldn’t have imagined what local businesses would be facing in the coming months,” stated Eric Hall, owner of Mammoth Liquors. “As a small business ourselves, we wanted to do something to help others as we all look to be healthy at work.”

A total of 160 bottles will be available, and can be reserved by visiting give270.org and clicking #healthyatwork Bourbon Pick. Those interested will be able to reserve up to two bottles that will be held in their name for pick-up and purchase at their choice of four locations: Mammoth Liquor in Campbellsville or Cave City, North Hardin Wine & Spirits in Radcliff and Packages & More Liquors in Elizabethtown.
