Give 270 fundraiser raises nearly $38,000 for LaRue County family

Robin Monroe, manager of Impellizzeri’s, Justin Howard, an insurance agent at Curneal Hignite Insurance, Jarrod Butler, owner of Heartland Cleaning Services (and his children Evelyn and Maximus), and Roman Ritchey owner of Ritchey Landscaping and Lawncare, present a check to Karen Ward (center) for fundraiser proceeds totaling nearly $38,000.

Give 270, a local nonprofit, recently hosted a golf scramble and raised $37,882 for a LaRue County family twice impacted by pediatric cancer.

At the check presentation, Jarrod Butler, owner of Heartland Cleaning Services, Justin Howard, an insurance agent at Curneal Hignite Insurance, Roman Ritchey owner of Ritchey Landscaping and Lawncare, and Robin Monroe, manager of Impellizzeri’s presented a proceeds check to Karen Ward, mother of sisters Tenley and Adley who were both diagnosed with leukemia.

“I, along with the entire region, have followed the story of Tenley and Adley Ward,” said Howard who also serves as a Give 270 volunteer board member. “When Tenley was diagnosed, our families came together to support Karen, Justin and the girls. After Adley’s diagnosis, we were compelled to do something again to help lighten their financial burdens so they could focus on what is most important – their family.”

Karen and her husband Justin are the proud parents of three daughters – Tenley (5), Adley (4) and Caselyn (9 months). Tenley was diagnosed with leukemia in 2018. After more than two years of treatment, transplants and relapses, Tenley is now in remission. However, in January 2021, Adley was diagnosed with the same cancer. During this time, both parents have been unable to work and are currently commuting to Cincinnati weekly for Adley’s treatments at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

“Give 270 and our generous sponsors were able to help us put together a great community fundraiser for this special family,” Howard said. “Every business, organization, and individual we reached out to did not hesitate to help.”

The fundraiser included a golf scramble and silent auction at Elizabethtown Country Club (ECC) thanks to the generous support of Corey Stith, ECC head golf professional and Gary Crabtree, ECC president. The event also included a happy hour gathering at Impellizzeri’s which graciously donated a portion of their proceeds.

“We have been overwhelmed with the support shown to our family during this very difficult time,” Karen Ward said. “God has blessed us with a special community where neighbors rally alongside us to shoulder the burden.”

Give 270 is a local 501(c)(3) crowdfunding organization that raises money to benefit projects and organizations in Hardin, LaRue and Meade counties. Give 270 also hosts the Eric and Joe Show and other fundraising events.

“Give 270 is passionate about finding creative ways to support immediate and long-term needs in our local communities,” said Give 270 co-founder Kenny Rambo. “This is a perfect example of how Give 270 connects local donors and benefactors with the causes that deserve their support, thus creating a community that truly helps each other in times of need.”

The Eric and Joe Show raised $8,500 for the Baptist Health Foundation Hardin

The Eric and Joe Show, presented in 2020, raised $8,500 for the Baptist Health Foundation Hardin. Because of the pandemic, last year’s Eric and Joe Show, which is traditionally presented live on stage, was filmed and played at Crowne Pointe Theatre in large-scale movie format. The modified format allowed for multiple viewings during a 10-day showing as well as reduced audience size.

Thank you to everyone who supported the show and these two crazy guys.

  • Give270 announces donation for HCS to offer Dolly Parton Imagination Library

KY Craft Beer Festival donates proceeds to Hardin County Schools
Funds will provide free books for kids through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

    August 14, 2020

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – Today, local nonprofit Give 270 announced a donation for $7,000 to Hardin County Schools (HCS) in order to offer Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to area children. HCS will roll out the pilot program to children living in the Creekside Elementary School district in Sonora.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth until they begin school, no matter their family’s income. However, the program is not available in all areas. Give 270’s donation will allow HCS to provide this program to local children who live in the 42776 zip code.

“We are thrilled to be able to provide this incredible program for local children,” said Give 270 co-founder Kenny Rambo. “Our community always turns out to support each other, and Give 270 is excited to find another way to support our children and help build young minds.”

HCS Early Childhood Education Department researched how to best use the funds to impact the most children.

“Early literacy opens the door for learning, and starts a child on the road to academic success,” said Hardin County Superintendent of Schools Teresa Morgan. “We are so grateful for a local organization like Give 270 that supports education programs like Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

“We hope that this is the first of many opportunities for HCS to make this program available, and happy to partner with them on this important endeavor,” Morgan added.

The Give 270 donation is from the proceeds of the local non-profit’s 2019 Kentucky Craft Beer Festival, a local fundraiser that brings craft beer enthusiasts to downtown Elizabethtown. The funding opportunity was identified in partnership with United Way of Central Kentucky.

  • EEF Partners with Give 270 to Provide Chromebooks to EIS Students

Crowdfunding effort hopes to provide 150 devices for 1:1 learning

    July 27, 2020

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – Elizabethtown Education Foundation (EEF) has partnered with Give 270 for a crowdfunding effort to help purchase 150 Chromebooks for Elizabethtown Independent Schools (EIS). The goal of the partnership is to ensure all 2,400 EIS students have access to learning devices in the classroom and at home.

For years, EEF has helped purchase Chromebooks to support EIS’ goal to be a 1:1 district – with each student having an assigned Chromebook for day-to-day learning, assessments, and communication.

A 1:1 district is even more necessary now as schools face educating students in the midst of a pandemic. The Chromebooks, installed with all the important security guidelines, will help ensure students have everything they need to learn, in person or remotely.

“When EEF first began purchasing Chromebooks, they were an enhancement to everyday learning,” said EEF Board Chairman Andy Games. “Today, because of the current pandemic, this technology is even more important and, in some cases, the equivalent of pencil and paper.

“We are excited by the initial response to our request with donations from local businesses – Packages and More, Planet Fitness, Buff City Soap and SunTan City,” Games said. “We hope that parents, alumni, businesses and community members follow their example and donate to help us raise these important funds for Elizabethtown students.”

EEF and Give 270 have a goal to raise $35,000 through the end of August 2020 for the Chromebooks. To help EEF and Give 270 meet this ambitious goal, visit give270.org/Chromebooks to make a donation of any size. “Give 270 is passionate about finding creative ways to support our local communities,” said Give 270 co-founder Kenny Rambo. “We are happy to partner with Elizabethtown Education Foundation on this urgent need to equip students with what they need for the months and years to come.”
